The Women art academy opened Monday February 24 at the premises of the national orchestra of Senegal in Douta Seck (Medina). Five women artists from the African continent were selected to participate in this five-day artistic residency. They were able to meet Adiouza Diallo, Senegalese singer and godmother of this workshop, who responded to the invitation of Sahad Sarr, director of the Stereo Africa 432 label.

There are five of them and come from Congo, Cameroon and Senegal. Monday February 24, 2025, Cecilia Irma "Empress Celyah", Fanta Cissé, Stelle Natty, Ghislaine Mbarga and Mina "the veiled", the five participants in the Women art academy, met in the premises of the national orchestra of Senegal in Dakar, within the Douta Seck culture house.
From reggae to rap, afrobeat, love music and pop music, their musical genres are diverse. Over the next five days, all five of them will attend workshops on copyright in Senegal, songwriting and stage preparation.
These five young women had previously responded to the call for applications launched last January by the Stereo Africa Festival, which actively works for the feminization of professions in the cultural and creative industries in Senegal and West Africa. In total, more than twenty applications were sent in response to this call.
Under the leadership of Adiouza Diallo
This week of artistic residency will take place under the leadership of the Senegalese singer and composer Adiouza Diallo. At the invitation of Sahad Sarr, director of the music label Stereo Africa 432 and founder of the Stereo Africa Festival, Adiouza accepted the honorary title of artistic director of the Women art academy and godmother of this residency. The Senegalese artist, with a career spanning several decades, marked by hits like "Monsieur Bonheur" or "Bus Bi", was able to exchange with the artists participating in the artistic residency.
Adiouza intends to support them in a concrete way in the recording studio, during the original creations that the five young women will create together as part of the Women art academy, particularly in terms of artistic direction and the composition of the pieces.
At the end of this artistic residency, the five participants will be invited to perform in showcases during the Stereo Africa Festival 2025 (#SAF25), which will take place in Dakar from May 7 to 11.
