Born in Maliotenam, an Innu Indian reserve located on the North Shore of Quebec (Canada), he sings mainly in the Innu language. This ancient language is spoken by most indigenous peoples from Eastern Canada. In his lyrics, he sings of the complexity and beauty of the Innu nation. A nomadic artist, Shauit wants to be a defender of this threatened, disappearing identity and travels the whole world to try to promote it. Thanks to this approach, he was able to collaborate with renowned artists from Quebec. His music is a lively and resonant musical mosaic, which reflects the varied landscapes and diverse communities of Quebec. With these mixtures, Shauit draws on reggae, folk and roots. To accompany his writings, the artist plays the violin and the guitar. He also sometimes uses elements reminiscent of the classic sounds of Quebec.
